Frisco Square and NBC5 Announce The Second Annual "Christmas in the Square"

Dallas, TEXAS (October 10, 2007) - Frisco Square, a master-planned lifestyle community in the heart of Frisco, and NBC 5 announced today their plans to host the second annual, Christmas in the Square, the biggest choreographed holiday light and music show in the State of Texas, combined with family oriented holiday activities three weekends in December.

The extraordinary holiday light show runs Friday, November 23, 2007 through Tuesday, January 1, 2008 from 5:30-10:00 pm. In its second year, Christmas in the Square has even more to offer in 2007 including:

  • Over 100,000 lights, 9.1 miles of wiring and 5.4 miles of extension cords
  • A "light canopy" across Coleman Boulevard with over 21,000 lights
  • Over 200 lit snowflakes adorning Frisco Square Buildings

"Last year's event was so successful, we decided to make it even bigger and better in 2007," noted Jim Leslie, managing partner of Frisco Square. "We encourage all families to capture the spirit of Christmas through this month-long tradition which has quickly become one of North-Texas' most unique holiday destinations."

With 80,000 visitors in 2006 and over 150,000 visitors expected in 2007, Frisco Square's Christmas in the Square features unique holiday activities centered on the family each Friday and Saturday evening beginning December 7th through December 22nd, 2007. The complete nightly schedule can be seen at .

Children of all ages will enjoy a variety of evening activities including outdoor movies, carriage rides, inner-tubing snow slide, snow machines, holiday treats and a live Santa Claus for children to visit and make requests. Christmas in the Square's family activities kick-off December 7th at 5:00 pm with the infamous "Parachuting Santa", who will fall from the sky complete with a sack of goodies for the children. All Christmas in the Square activities are FREE to the public with the exception of the carriage rides ($6.00 per person) and select holiday treats.

New family-centered activities in 2007 include (see schedule for exact dates of each activity):

  • "Santa's Workshop" complete with gift vendors and gift wrap center benefiting a local charity
  • Holiday model railroad by The Spring Creek Model Railroad Club
  • Quad-bungee jump, rock climbing wall and Batman obstacle course
  • Three-lane snow slide (due to overwhelming response to two-lane snow slide in 2006)
  • New and improved "snow" machines - same ones used by The Walt Disney Company
  • More bounce-houses than ever before, including the Crayola Combo
  • Additional carriage rides each Thursday through Sunday from 5:30-9:30 pm

On Saturday nights, families are encouraged to bring chairs and a blanket to enjoy holiday movies shown on a 28' x 20' inflatable, outdoor movie screen on Frisco's newly completed plaza, located in front of City Hall. Holiday movies include Polar Express (Dec. 8), Prancer (Dec. 15) and A Christmas Story (Dec. 22).

This unique Christmas light display was designed by Illumimax, LLC, a nationally recognized holiday lighting consulting company owned by Frisco resident, Jeff Trykoski.
